It converts AC and DC inputs to a 12V DC output, giving applications what they need to operate safely. A maximum standby consumption of 35mW means the unit saves energy while connected devices are in sleep mode. Efficient EMI shielding guards against interference so there's no interruption to service. The supply's integral short-circuit protection does double duty by preventing damage and also starting up automatically after problems are resolved, to maximise uptime.

How does a switching power supply work?

The internal switch turns on and off in a flash to convert different voltages through inductors or capacitors. This ongoing switching keeps the voltage at the desired level to boost efficiency.

Recom 2W Single Output, Wired, Encapsulated Regulated AC-DC Converters - RAC02-SE/277/W Series

The Recom ultra compact 2W wired RAC02-SE/277/W power modules are available with output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12 and 24V and the input to output isolation is 3kVAC/1min. With a standby consumption of 35mW maximum, the mini power supplies are particularly suitable for energy-saving sleep mode and standby applications.

One of the most important features is the extended operating temperature range, as a consequence this series of power modules can now be used in areas where temperatures drop as low as -40°C.

Because of its compact design (height <18mm), it is a versatile solution for home automation and other similar applications. Complete with an integrated input filter, the series has enhanced EMI performance and complies with EN55022, class B. The mini power supplies are also protected against short circuit with fully automatic restart after the error has been solved. The converters are EN/UL60950-1 certified and come complete with a 3 year warranty.
