The Telephone/Data Cable Splice and Repair Kit is a single tool solution for splicing, tapping, or repairing low voltage cables in telecommunications, voice, and data applications. The kit features the Kinetic® Super IDC Wire Stripper/Crimper tool, an all-in-one tool perfect for cutting, stripping, and crimping 22-24 AWG telecommunications cables for IDC splices. The tool is designed with a special parallel-action, smooth flat crimping plate that ensures consistent, undamaged crimps. Unlike using traditional linesman or generic pivoting pliers, this tool’s parallel action prevents damage to the plastic shell of the connector and ensures proper seating of the wires into the IDC sockets. It is compatible with all industry-standard IDC jellybean type connectors. Additionally, the tool includes 22 and 24 AWG stripping holes and a wire cutter for other common telephone installation requirements. When using the IDC connectors, there’s no need to strip the individual conductors before inserting them; the connectors will pierce the insulating jacket to provide common conductivity among the conductors. The kit also includes 25 IDEAL® UR IDC jellybeans suitable for 3 wires. They feature an internal moisture-resistant gel sealant to protect the splice in outdoor locations, and offer a permanent connection once crimped.
