Lead screws are a common component found in a range of equipment from lathes and milling equipment to measuring systems.

These screws usually work alongside nuts – a type of fastener with a threaded hole. The nut twists onto the lead screw thread. As the lead screw turns or rotates, the nut then moves along the screw in a linear motion. This is helpful in motion control applications when you need to translate turning or rotating movements.
