The cable's inner wiring is protected by a PVC (polyvinyl chloride) mesh covering that stands up to weathering and corrosion. The gold-plated contacts on both connectors are resistant to corrosion and effectively rust-proof. The cable's aluminium hood provides strain relief to stop the connector jacket from splitting around the boot, so it can withstand plenty of wear and tear.
