Category 7 cable, more frequently known as a Cat7 or Cat-7 cable, is a form of high-end data transfer patch cable used in delivering the core infrastructure of wired Gigabit Ethernet setups.;It’s a shielded twisted pair cable, used principally in achieving high-speed Ethernet connections at data transfer rates of 1 Gbps or higher between directly linked servers, switches and computer networks.

Category 7 Ethernet cable specs are defined in the ISO/IEC 11801:2002 (Information technology - Generic cabling for customer premises). This specification is also known as the Class F standard, which is why Cat7 cable is sometimes referred to as an ISO Class F cable. This Cat7 Ethernet cable specification dictates that the wired connection must be:

Capable of delivering certain data transfer rates reliably over a defined range of distances

Built to meet stringent criteria around crosstalk and system noise blocking

Able to cope with a range of potentially problematic environmental hazards as it delivers these speeds

Be guaranteed for a minimum lifespan in continual operation

The Belden cat7 cable is Low Smoke Zero Halogen, commonly termed as LSZH or LSOH. These cables are used where smoke emission and toxic fumes could cause harm to human health, as well as to essential equipment in the event of a fire. LSZH cables have an outer sheath material which produce lower levels of smoke and toxic fumes, and no acid gases. These are particularly beneficial to personnel exiting safely during a fire, as well as increasing the safety of the firefighting operation.

Features and Benefits:

Blue colour cable

Support current and future Cat. 6A and 7 applications for fixed installation in railway vehicle

Screened, foil twisted pair wiring

Low Smoke Zero Halogen sheathed data cable

High speed and performance of data transmission

Cat7 cables are backward compatible with Cat5 and Cat6 Ethernet

Significantly reduced crosstalk and noise levels

Support current and future Cat. 6A and 7 applications for fixed installation in railway vehicles

Support protocols such as 10GBase-T (10 Gigabit Ethernet), 1000Base-T (Gigabit Ethernet), 100 Base-T , 10 Base-T, FDDI, ATM
