Flush wire cutters, or straight wire cutter, don't leave a 'spike' or angle in the wire after it has been cut. If a model type comes in different lengths, the jaws will be the same length, but the handles will be either shorter or longer. They are usually light in weight due to the fact they are carried around a lot but heavier types with a wide jaw and thick blades can cut thicker wires.

Do not force cutters to cut through material that is too hard for them as it can damage the blades by chipping or blunting them. These hand tools can be cleaned with soap and water, especially the blades, to remove dirt which could cause issues with the joints and encourage corrosion.
