It's constructed from strong and durable galvanised steel, which helps it to handle heavy loads up to 4000N and maximum twisting forces of 60Nm. The connector section fits in the centre of your vertical strut, and the two T-bolts anchor into the groove on your horizontal one, so they're securely held together.
