RS Components hosts 3D Printing Technology event for bloggers and journalists in London

Sverige, 24 Juni 2015:

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, hosted a press and blogger event on Thursday, 26 June at King’s Place in London to discuss the futuristic capabilities of 3D Printing technology and the various 3D stock options that are now available from RS. Adrian Bowyer, founder of the RepRap Project, delivered a keynote speech presenting his philosophy of the ‘Self-Replicating Machine’ and introducing revolutionary steps in 3D printing with the development of mixing technology. The highlight of Adrian’s presentation was how the power of self-replication can be made accessible to everyone and what that will mean for the entire industry.

Iain Major from 3D Systems presented an overview of the 3D Printing market and its future, particularly in the education sector, to an audience of over thirty journalists and bloggers on the day.

Following the insightful keynote by Dr. Bowyer around the concept and philosophy behind the self-replicating printer, the attendees had an opportunity to network with both himself and Iain and see the technology in action as RS showcased the latest 3D printers, including the RepRapPro Ormerod and Tricolour CubePro series, together with a 3D Scanner and all the new 3rd generation product range from 3D Systems.

The aim of the event was to address questions such as ‘What makes 3D Printing so intriguing?’ by bringing the enthusiastic tech and design blogger community closer to the 3D printing process, letting them interact with the experts, seeing the printers live in action and even replicate a scan of themselves in 3D.
